A Lafayette grand jury did not indict a Lafayette man who was arrested in connection with the June shooting death of Dextel George.

According to our news partner, KATC, Terrell Batiste was accused of shooting George after an argument erupted between the two inside a Josephine Street home in June. Police found George with a gunshot wound in his side.

On Wednesday, the grand jury declined to indict Batiste on the second-degree murder charge and a possession of cocaine charge.

Batiste was still being held at the Lafayette Parish Correctional Center as of Thursday afternoon in connection with George's death.
