With the gun debate that is raging, the pro-gun group will be spreading this story like wildfire.

Nelson, Georgia's city council approved the law, called the "Family Protection Ordinance", by a landslide vote:  5 - 0.   According to ABC News,

The new law requires every head of household "to maintain a firearm, together with ammunition."

 

Sounds like a good idea to me, granted that the head of household isn't a felon and is of sound mind.  For those who protest?  There is no penalty.  Not owning a gun is against the ordinance, but the city won't prosecute.

Seems that this ordinance would make criminals think twice about getting too cozy with the residents.  How do you feel about the ordinance?
