Movie Icon George Lucas has chosen Chicago as the site for his 'Star Wars' interactive museum. Officials in California were stunned when the Modesto native chose the Windy City over San Francisco. The visual effects division of Lucasfilm is located in San Francisco, and Skywalker Ranch is in Marin County. CNN reports the Presidio Trust rejected Lucas' first site choice, forcing him to look elsewhere.
The Chicago site is on the city's lakefront, in an area known as the Museum Campus. The site's proximity to other attractions made it extremely attractive. The legendary film maker says he hopes to open the Lucas Museum of Narrative Art in the next four years.
