‘Gaga’ Goes Platinum In First Week

Lady GaGa's new Cd 'Born This Way' sold 1,108,00 copies in its first week of release.  That's the most successful first week for a new CD in 6 years. 'The Massacre' by 50 Cent sold 1,141,00 in 2005. 

 Amazon/Soundscan says 662,000 copies were digital, the previous record was 288,00, held by Coldplay's Viva La Vida, released in 2008.  In all fairness, it should be stated that 440,00 of the digital copies were sold as a 99-cent special.
