Well – Known Lafayette Building Has Been Demolished

If you're old enough, you remember when the building that was Gatti Town was one of the first (maybe the very first) Wal - Mart in Lafayette. It then became Academy, and then a bunch of other places before Gatti Town became successful for a time.

Developing Lafayette reports that the familiar structure has been completely demolished.

The destruction of the building is bittersweet.  It was home to lots of memories for the people of Acadiana. I remember shopping there when it was Wal - Mart, and our family had lots of great times eating pizza and playing games at Gatti Town.

While it's not yet known what will be built in its place, there's word of the possibility of a renovation/rebuilding of the entire shopping center.
