The Louisiana Department of Health will be offering free tetanus shots today.

Hundreds of people in Lafayette have had to clean out their flood damaged home, and because of that, DHH is giving free tetanus shots to anyone whose homes flooded.

If you would like to get a shot, they will be available at the FEMA Disaster Recovery Center at 301 West University Avenue today.

The shots will be administered between 2 o'clock this afternoon through 6 o'clock this evening.

DHH reminds residents that you need a tetanus booster shot once in every ten year period.

Health officials say one simple cut can lead to a bacterial infection involving tetanus which can be very painful and cause serious spasms in your muscles.
