There was a helicopter crash in the Gulf of Mexico this morning, and four people were taken from the copter according to the United States Coast Guard.

KATC is reporting that the pilot of the helicopter has died.

The helicopter is owned by Panther Helicopters.

The Coast Guard tells KPEL there was an offshore supply vessel nearby that was able to rescue four people from the helicopter.

A Coast Guard helicopter evacuated two of the people rescued to the LSU Medical Center New Orleans.

The spokesman could not give us information on the condition of the other two people.

The crash is abut 30 miles northeast of Venice in Block 108.
