The New Orleans Saints & San Francisco Forty-Niners have been bitter rivals for years. The played one another twice a year for more than three decades. When the Saints made their first playoff appearance in 1987, they were a wildcard despite a 12-3 record. The division rival ‘Niners were 13-2. They eliminated the Saints from the playoffs after the 2011 season. There’s been a lot of trash talk over the years. Members of Who ‘Dat Nation often refer to the ‘Niners as “Forty-Whiners.”

Pardon me while I pour a little gasoline on the fire. The Associated Press reports, ‘Niners safety Donte Whitner says the Saints’ 23-20 victory over his team on November 17th was stolen, not earned. He contends Drew Brees “can’t take a hit,” and feels the personal foul against Ahmad Brooks that negated lost fumble was a bad call. Brooks was later fined $16,000 for the hit.

Whitner added, “It's not his fault that Drew Brees is a little guy and can't really take a hit."  He continued by saying he hopes the two teams meet again in the playoffs. I have this to say in closing…Be careful what you wish for.
