Flooding Closes Bayou Darbonne Boat Launches
EFFECTIVE IMMEDIATELY, by orders of St. Landry Parish President, Don Menard, all boat launches to Bayou Darbonne will be closed until further notice. This notice is being issued due to the increased water levels and the safety hazards boating posses for the residents in these areas. These orders include the Levee Landing Boat launch and the Public Boat Launch under Hwy 190. Please be advised the St. Landry Parish Sheriff’s Department will be patrolling these areas and will strictly enforce these orders.
The mandatory evacuation order is being lifted for all residents living on the East side of the River Levee and for all livestock previously on the levee. Upon returning, all residents and livestock owners are cautioned about a possible increase in wildlife in the area.
