Flight attendants don't get paid if the plane door is open and they don't like pouring Diet Coke either. It's so carbonated, it takes forever to pour. They have to police the bathrooms to make sure no one is joining the mile high club and can even be fired for calling in sick.

According to flight attendant Heather Poole, who has spilled the beans about the worst aspects of her job, flying is not as glamorous as it once was. "You know all that preflight time where we’re cramming bags into overhead bins? None of that shows up in our paychecks. Flight attendants get paid for flight hours only" says Poole. "The clock doesn’t start until the craft pushes away from the gate. Flight delays, cancellations, and layovers affect us just as much as they do passengers—maybe even more."

Not that this makes it right, but there is some gratification for the regulars like us knowing that we aren't the only ones going through airport hell.
