FBI: ‘Work At Home’ Scam Targets Students

A chance to make extra money working at home is an attractive notion for someone trying to pay their way through college while shouldering a full course load. The FBI is warning about a scam targeting college students. The scammers contact the student about the "opportunity", and ask for banking information, claiming it's for the purpose of setting up direct deposit. The elaborate scheme redirects funds among victim's accounts and asks the student to make wire transfers. The student unwittingly becomes a participant in the scam, and could face criminal charges.
