The Saints have hired three "new" assistant coaches, according to a report from nola.com. Former quarterbacks coach Joe Lombardi returns after a stint as offensive coordinator with the Detroit Lions. Drew Brees' most productive seasons, including the 2009 super Bowl season and the record setting 2011 season, were with Lombardi as quarterbacks coach. Dan Campbell will be the new tight ends coach. He played tight end for the New York Giants while Sean Payton was offensive coordinator. They won an NFC championship together. Both later moved to the Dallas Cowboys. Campbell signed with the Saints in 2009, but was sidelined by an injury. He was most recently interim head coach with the Dolphins. Former cornerback Aaron Glenn was the 3rd signing. he played 15 years in the NFL, ending his career with the Saints in 2008. Glenn will likely replace Wesley McGriff as defensive backs coach. There's an old saying, "Do what works." These guys all have a track record of success.
