LAFAYETTE – See the Art – Buy the Art. Come early for the Rio Parade and stay for ArtWalk while exploring the Downtown Lafayette Cultural District as art galleries display works by the best of local and regional artists. Take a tour of the galleries during 2nd Saturday ArtWalk on from 6 p.m. – 9 p.m., as the Downtown comes alive with more than a dozen galleries, museums restaurants and shops offering live music, food, drink and of course, art for purchase!

In addition to galleries, businesses in the district showing works for ArtWalk include Artmosphere, The Ballet Academie, Bizarre Ink, Frederick's Hair Studio, Grant St. Dancehall, Parish Ink, Recycled Cycles of Acadiana and Americas Coffee House.

Horses and Harmony is a festive evening dedicated to celebrating two of St. Landry Parish's most important industries, our music and our equine industry. This year's event will honor recording artist Rob Bernard, formerly of Opelousas, who helped pioneer the musical genre known as swamp pop. During the ceremony, Bernard will receive the Hadley J. Castille Music Award. Also during the evening, equine businessman Lee Young of Opelousas will be honored with the Chamber's H&H Equine Industry Award. Although the awards will be the high point of the evening, Evangeline Downs will be providing a backyard barbecue-style meal. Music for the evening will be provided by Geno Delafose and French Rockin' Boogie, who won last year's music award. All proceeds from the evening will be used to fund two scholarships–the Hadley J. Castille Music Scholarship and the Equine Studies Scholarship, which are administered by the chamber. Get your tickets now!
