Additional Information

LOPA (Louisiana Organ Procurement Agency) is excited to host Ryan’s Run, in partnership with The Tap Room. The 2017 5K fundraiser is set for 8am on Saturday April 8 in front of The Tap Room, 201 Settlers Trace Boulevard. There is a new fundraising format with LOPA’s race this year. It will give people an opportunity to donate beyond the race registration and/or to honor a hero through a monetary donation. Feel free to organize a team to raise money or register for the race at www.lopa.org. The team captain of the highest fundraising team, along with the top individual fundraiser, will receive a prize. Individual participants and teams can register online at www.lopa.org.

Every year, LOPA’s annual 5K fundraiser honors organ and tissue donors and their families and celebrates with recipients who have received the Gift of Life. With 2,000 people in Louisiana waiting on a life-saving organ transplant, LOPA’s mission is simple – help save lives through organ and tissue donation. Abbeville native, Ryan Viator became a LOPA hero on April 7, 2000 saving the lives of three strangers through organ donation. Almost seventeen years later, Ryan’s life continues to make an impact on his community. His family has dedicated their lives to ensuring Acadiana is better informed about the importance of organ and tissue donation. Ryan was a gym owner and avid “health junkie.” It’s only fitting to name LOPA’s run in honor of Ryan and his gifts of life.

Pre-registration entry fee is $25.00 until March 31st.  The cost of event day registration is $30.00.  All pre-registered participants are guaranteed a Ryan’s Run t-shirt. The day will be full of fun, food, beverages and entertainment. For more information on donation or regardingRyan’s Run, visit www.lopa.org.

LOPA is a private non-profit organization that exists to enhance and promote the recovery of organs and tissues for transplantation, to increase awareness through education and outreach, and to provide the vital services that support donor families.
