Additional Information

The 6th Annual Out of the Darkness suicide awareness walk will take place on October 20, 2012, at Girard Park.

The Out of the Darkness Community Walks are 3-5 mile walks taking place in over 200 communities across the country this fall, and the Acadiana walk will be near UL's campus, at Girard Park.

By walking in the Out of the Darkness walk, you help raise money to benefit the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention (AFSP).  You will be walking with thousands of people nationwide to raise money for AFSP's vital research and education programs to prevent suicide and save lives, increase national awareness about depression and suicide, advocate for mental health issues, and assist survivors of suicide loss.

Everyone has been affected by suicide and depression, directly or indirectly.  Take a few minutes out of your Saturday morning to help the cause.

Register today, and bring your family with you.  If you can't make it on October 20th, please consider making a donation to help the organization reach its goal of $20,000 for this year's walk!
