A living history encampment will be created at Longfellow-Evangeline SHS depicting the lifestyle of the coureur de bois or trappers, traders, and hunters who moved from place to place in the early 1800’s. A variety of demonstrations will be taking place; local artisans will be on-site selling unique, homemade crafts; the Cajun Creole Cookers will have food available for guests (for a minimal donation); and Shane Bernard will be will giving a presentation about his newly-released book Teche: A History of Louisiana’s Most Famous Bayou
