The 7th Annual Gumbo Cook-off is set for Saturday, Jan. 26, 2013 in downtown Opelousas. The event will feature live music, a kid's activity area, both silent and live auctions, dancing and a whole lot of gumbo. The event is presented by Steamboat Warehouse Restaurant, Frank's Downtown, Marksman, LLC, and Doran Law Firm. This a special event because it will benefit 14-year old cancer patient, Miya Norse of Opelousas.

The cook-off will begin at 8:00 am. at Frank's Downtown and Pride Doran Law Firm located on the corner of Landry and Oak Streets in downtown Opelousas. There will be no admission fee; however, attendees may purchase a $5 bracelet to sample the many, delicious gumbos and vote for their People's Choice favorite.

There will also be a Bike Run- entry fee is $20 for bikes and $10 for riders. Door prizes will be rewarded at each stop.  This sounds like it is going to be an amazing event with delicious food, fun activities and of course, benefiting Miya Norse.
