It's a sad day at ESPN. The network has reportedly laid off 100 of their staffers.

The layoffs will affect many across the board, not just on-air personalities and journalists. Sadly, this doesn't look good for the struggling network being that Christmas is just weeks away.

According to Sports Illustrated, ESPN President John Skipper said in a statement to employees that, "The majority of the jobs eliminated are in studio production, digital content, and technology and they generally reflect decisions to do less in certain instances and re-direct resources."

If you recall, last year ESPN laid off 100 employees due to budget cuts. This appears to be round two of layoffs now.

A source told SI that these changes will likely have an impact on programming, in particular, the popular SportsCenter, and a number of editors and some writers will be let go.

So sad, for those now without a job during the holiday season
