Here's a short clip of my view while performing the Master of Ceremonies duties at the Mystic Krewe of Apollo's Annual Bal Masque'.

At several of the events we emcee (in a large facility), there is usually a spotlight directly on us; the Apollo Ball is different.  The spotlight is only on the emcee at the very beginning of the event: during the welcome, the moment of silence for our troops, and our National Anthem/Presentation of Colors.  For the rest of the night, I am able to see (fairly) well into the crowd, and actually get to enjoy most of the show!

If you've never been to Apollo, it is quite a spectacle: beautiful gowns, incredible headdresses, well-choreographed dance routines, and a few thousand people bent on having a fabulous time!  If you'd like to attend in 2016, you'd best be on your toes when the tickets go on sale: they sold out in 22 minutes this year!
