Early voting for the November 6th election is set to begin on October 23rd. In Lafayette Parish, early voting is conducted at the Office of the Registrar of Voters on Lafayette Street. Nothing has really changed with that procedure. What has changed is the parking situation in the downtown area.

The Buchanan Street Parking garage has been closed indefinitely over safety concerns. This has eliminated the place where many early voters might choose to park. Not to worry, officials with Lafayette Consolidated Government have created limited parking availability specifically to meet the needs of those who want to cast their ballot during the early voting period.

LCG has designated these areas of on-street parking for early voters:

  • W. Convent St. between Buchanan St. and Lafayette St. (across from First Baptist School)
  • Lafayette St. between Convent St. and Barry St. (across from First Baptist School and in front of the Alexandre Mouton House)

The parking spots will be clearly marked and should be used for short-term i.e. early voting only.

Early voting will begin on October 23rd and run through October 30th excluding Sunday, October 28th. Early voting hours are from 8:30 AM until 6 PM each day.
