Louisiana State Police Troop I reports a man died shortly after 12:30 this morning after he drove across the center line of Highway 98 and hit a truck head-on.

Investigators believe that 20-year-old Joseph LeBlanc of Rayne was eastbound on Highway 98 at Standard Mill Road when his car slammed into 49-year-old Arthur Bourque's truck. Bourque was taken to the hospital with moderate injuries

LeBlanc's car then went off of the roadway and it burst into flames.

The Lafayette Parish Coroner's Office pronounced LeBlanc dead at the scene.

Investigators say the could not figure out if LeBlanc was buckled up because is car was so severly burned.

Routine toxicology samples will be sent to the Louisiana State Police lab for analysis.

What caused the crash is still being investigated.
