We may live in a digital world, but our brains are still analog. If you're in a meeting, and information is being shared that you need to remember, it's a better idea to write it down than make notes in your laptop or tablet. The same applies if you're a student. A study published in Psychological Science indicates information is better retained when we take the time to write it down instead of tapping it into a device. This process also removes the temptation to peruse social media or emails during a boring lecture. Studies indicate multitasking is more damaging to creativity and memory than smoking marijuana. Perhaps it's no coincidence that diagnoses of ADD & ADHD are on the rise.
