11Today I was looking at our Twitter feed, and my boy Jim Hummel from KATC tweeted out "Alright, twitter- what's the deal with these Dong Phuong King Cakes?" I was all like "What is a Dong Phuong King Cake?" I investigated it and now see it might be the ones of the best King Cakes I've never tried.

Dong Phuong Bakery in New Orleans opened in 1982. They opened to cater to Vietnamese community that settled in New Orleans after the Vietnam War. In 2008 they decided they wanted to get the New Orleans Vietnamese community more involved in Mardi Gras, so the started making their Dong Phuong King Cake.

In only 10 years of making King Cakes, Dong Phuong King Cakes are now considered to one of the best in New Orleans.

Where Nola Eats says "Its miniature loaves of French bread, first intended for banh mi sandwiches, are used for po-boys at Jazz Fest."

Have you ever had a Dong Phuong King Cake?
