Donald Trump, Highest U.S. Office Holder, Fixates on Snoop Dogg Video

President Donald Trump holds the highest political office in the United States, is embroiled in a possible investigation into his administration’s multiple (and possibly additional) ties to Russian interests before and after the election, and is responsible for top-line decisions on America’s national security, healthcare and all-around prosperity — yet somehow, he’s still making time for his long-held fixation on what celebrities are doing. Most recently, Trump is upset with rapper and fellow business mogul Snoop Dogg over his “Lavender” music video, in which he “shoots” at a clown resembling Trump with a toy gun.

In a tweet sent at 7:02AM on March 15 (Trump thinks about Snoop Dogg at 7 in the morning?), the president went for a Trump-tweet-twofer, in which he both worked in his favorite insult (“failing”) and managed to invoke another ongoing obsession (Barack Obama).

Trump is not the first or twenty-fifth president to be the subject of a parody, and Obama certainly faced his fair share of real death threats and assassination plots both during his campaign and in office (not to mention a mountain of grief from the “birther movement” suggesting Obama was foreign-born, which Trump himself started).

Snoop Dogg’s net worth was valued at $110 million by Forbes in 2016; if that’s “failing,” we’ll take it. Further, as the Fader points out, the veteran rapper’s latest studio album debuted at a respectable No. 40 on the Billboard 200, his VH1 show with Martha Stewart has been renewed, he stars in an Adidas campaign and his multiple side businesses are flourishing. Snoop is headed to Austin, Texas for SXSW and has yet to offer a significant response to Trump’s tweet; honestly shouldn’t our president be too busy to air his hurt feelings as well?
