Debbie Ray Almost Burns Down The KTDY Building

Today during the CJ and Debbie Ray Morning Show, Debbie Ray had a bit of a mishap that almost required us calling the fire department.

This morning during the morning show, Deb heated up leftovers from dinner the night before as she has many other mornings. There is a microwave in the vending machine nook which is just outside the KTDY studio. Deb has used this microwave many many times.

This morning she had chicken in a Tupperware type container. Nothing unusual. She put the container in the microwave and set the timer for 60 seconds...so she thought.

With only seconds left on the song that was on the air, Deb was to do news after the song ended. With only about 10 seconds left on the song, Deb screams and runs out of the room, leaving me startled and only seconds to get another song on the air.

The vending machine area, thru the KTDY studio window, was filled with smoke and by this time the strong smell of something burning was entering the KTDY studio.

Apparently, instead of setting the timer for 60 seconds, Debbie Ray had set the timer for 60 minutes. The video is not blurry, that's SMOKE!
