The Associated Press reports trial begins tomorrow for a group of New Orlens Police officers charged with shooting unarmed civilans on a bridge in New Orleans in the wake of Hurricane Katrina.  The so-called 'Danziger Seven' were charged with murder in state court in 2006. Charges were dismissed in 2008. A federal trial begins tomorrow. There is no federal statute for murder in The United States, so the defendants will most likey  face charges of civil rights violations, and conspiracy pursuant to an alleged cover up. One of the officers is  charged with shooting an unarmed, mentally disabled man, while three of the seven have confessed.
