Vermilionville's free annual Creole Culture Day is just around the corner!

Vermilionville will be the setting on Sunday, June 7th, for a full day of music, food, films and more. For this year's "sharing circle" will discuss Creole cowboys and trail ride traditions.

You are invited to bring your instruments for an all-levels Creole jam, led by Wayne Singleton of Lil Wayne & Same Ol' 2 Step. Free dance lessons will be provided by Brandon Broussard to prepare you to dance to the live music of the Lil Buck Sinegal Blues Band and Leroy Thomas & the Zydeco Road Runners.  You can learn how to cure a black pot and cook over an open hearth, make file' from sassafras and prepare boudin, cracklins, tea cakes, pralines, pork stew and more!

There will also be a viewing of rare live footage of Clifton Chenier shot by Carl Colby. Bring the kids, as there will be plenty of crafts, storytelling, games and other activities for them. For more information, visit the Vermilionville Creole Culture Day Facebook page.
