I grew up with lots of cousins nearby. Every birthday was cause for a family celebration (it seemed like there was one every week,) but I was pretty close to one cousin, in particular. Johnny was born three months after I was. We went to the same grammar school for a few years, but his family moved to another part of the city, so we didn't see each other every day any more after about the third grade. We reconnected again in high school. On his  birthday, in 1975, I think, I sent him a funny card that said, "Happy Birthday to a good-looking relative... Save this card. You can send it to me on my birthday!" And he did exactly that! We've been mailing the same card, now tattered around the edges, and taped together in the middle, back and forth ever since. Happy Birthday, Johnny! I hope we get to continue this crazy tradition for forty more years! (By the way, the card only cost 35 cents!)
