The issue of whether or not Confederate monuments in New Orleans should stay or go has upset many people, but apparently none so much as those who threatened to kill the contractor hired to remove the monuments.

NOLA.com reports that H&O Investments has walked away from the job after its employees received death threats and other area business threatened to cancel their contracts with the company.

The New Orleans City Council voted in December to remove Confederate monuments including statues of generals Robert E. Lee, P.G.T. Beauregard and the Battle of Liberty Place obelisk. Plans are allegedly underway with private landowners to construct a Civil War park to house the statues.
