Brittni is HOME!  She and her mom Deborah, arrived in Lafayette this past Saturday just in time for Father's Day.  It's all I wanted for Father's Day this year and I'll be darned if she didn't make it happen.

As many of you know, early February of this year, Brittni was diagnosed with Acute Myeloid Leukemia (APL) High Risk.  She was hospitalized in Florida for 44 consecutive days and then in and out of the hospital until this past Friday when she finished her last round of chemo.

We knew we had a small window of opportunity to get her home before her levels started to drop, which usually makes her ill and forces her to stay hold up at home.  The affects of chemo don't show up immediately, and can and at times have been very brutal, enough for hospitalization.  So if we didn't get her home quick, she would end up having to stay in Florida at least another month.

Our super girl arrived at Lafayette Regional at 8:40PM Saturday evening.  Brittni asked that initially only her close friends know she's home so she could see them, deal with the affects of chemo with just family and then begin this new chapter of her life.  I may have to replace the front door of my house as when one friend leaves, another arrives.  The reaction equals that of a Justin Bieber concert, lots of high pitched sounds and hugging.

Monday, she met her new Lafayette doctor, Dr. Morad and his team whom we now refer to as Team Brittni Lafayette.  She is in their hands now, with direction from Moffitt Cancer Center in Tampa.

Brittni Fest, a fundraiser, is this Saturday and being put on 100% by her friend Myles Bunker.  Brittni plans on being there in person for a short time, providing she is well enough.

Our family would like thank you for your love and prayers.  Brittni's battle against cancer is far from over with at least two more years of oral chemo and testing, but Brittni remains strong, positive and an inspiration to our family.
