Many times, Christmas gifts for dad, let's just say, miss the mark.  You hear about it all the time.  Socks, a tie or some tool that dads will never wear or use.  But when a family really knows your likes and dislikes, if they put in the effort, they can hit the nail on the head.  This year, my family knocked it out of the park.  I love this Christmas gift.

Bob Ross was a well known artist that opened art studios around the nation, had a line of art supplies and various merchandise with his sayings and image on them and was the creator and host of 'The Joy of Painting', an instructional program on television that aired in the U.S., Canada, Latin America and Europe from 1983 to 1994 on PBS.  Ross was diagnosed with cancer in 1994 and died at the age of 52 on July 4, 1995.

When LPB here in Louisiana aired his show at night several years ago, I would not go to sleep without watching.  His calming voice and almost instant creation of a beautiful landscape on canvass in 30 minutes every night was the perfect anecdote for sleep.  Now, I watch him on Netflix.

Bob Ross was/is a national treasure.  His t-shirts, art studios, supplies, merchandise and television program are still big business.  His sayings can even be found in greeting cards.  He loved animals, family and painting.  There will never be another Bob Ross.  RIP
