City Of Carencro Plans Veterans’ Memorial

The City of Carencro has announced plans to develop a memorial to local military veterans. The Carencro Veterans Memorial will be designed by  Architect Lynn Guidry, and located at Carencro City Hall.
A group of volunteers initiated plannning for the memorial earlier this year. Annette Melancon, of Melancon's Marble & Granite, approached Mayor Glenn Brasseaux about the donation of a bench to honor local military veterans. Proposed features for the memorial include granite towers engraved with the names of veterans killed in action, and memorial brick pavers engraved with the names of past and present veterans. Granite benches for visitors are to also be included. The memorial bricks will be available for purchase in honor of local veterans. Target completion date for the project is summer-fall 2014.
