This year's Christmas and holiday waste collection schedule in Lafayette won't be hard to remember.

KATC reports that the Lafayette Consolidated Government has announced that there will be no changes to the residential waste collection schedule during the Christmas and New Year holidays.

Republic Services will run their regularly scheduled residential collection routes in Lafayette Parish.

Residents are encouraged to recycle excess holiday waste. Lafayette's recycling program accepts items such as paper, cardboard, steel cans, aluminum cans and plastic containers marked #1 and #2. Plastic bags of any kind, garbage, yard waste or Styrofoam should not be placed in recycling collection carts.

The Lafayette Consolidated Government Compost Facility at 400 Dugas Rd. will be closed on Monday, Dec. 26 and Monday, Jan. 2 and will reopen on the following Tuesday at 7 a.m.
