Many nursing home residents have no family nearby. Some have outlived their children and all their friends. The most needy will not receive a single gift this Christmas. We asked for your help Acadiana and again this year, you answered our plea. Shoeboxes For Seniors will make hundreds of needy seniors in our community feel special this Christmas.

Several "old school" Acadiana rock bands are reuniting and gathering at the Blue Moon Saloon to benefit St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. "Blast From the Past" is this Thursday, Dec. 22nd, featuring the Bayou Blasters, Untouchables, Soldier, the Rogues, and Fastboy.

Owners of Rusted Rooster have gotten together with other Lafayette businesses to take part in a supply drive to benefit the victims of the recent wildfires in Tennessee.

Country music legend Dolly Parton is helping thousands of people who have been affected by the wildfires raging through her home state of Tennessee. What she is proposing is VERY generous.

Runners are encouraged to register early, and motorists are reminded that Camellia Boulevard will be closed near the Vermilion River for the event.

Scott and Judy Owens lost their home, and all of its contents, over the weekend. They have one son, and a 9 week-old puppy. A message was sent earlier today to outline their specific needs

Delcambre High School's Project Graduation will be hosting a Gumbo Cookoff December 3 to raise funds for their event. The event will be held at the Delcambre Shrimp Festival grounds, with judging/serving at 1pm. Admission is $5 for adults, $3 for kids 6-12...

A group of us who lived and worked together in the dorms at USL (a long time ago) will have a booth at the Sweet Dough Pie Festival on October 22 in Grand Coteau!

The event will be held in the parking lot of Cajun Field, and will feature nearly 100 different gumbos for you to sample.

L. Leo Judice elementary school in Scott is a school of choice, serving students from kindergarten through 5th grade. They're having their annual fall fundraiser. Items are being sought for placement into gift baskets for auction.

Registration is $15 per person, and is now open for the walk. Each participant will receive a t-shirt, lunch and participation in all festivities.
