He became a head coach at the collegiate level at just 24 years of age.  And, Tuesday night, Louisiana Head Baseball Coach Tony Robichaux tries to become one of the youngest coaches in NCAA Division I history to reach 1,000 career wins.

And, isn't it ironic he'll have that chance Tuesday night against the school where his illustrious career began.

Robichaux's Ragin' Cajuns (4-3) play host to McNeese State (4-4) in a non conference affair Tuesday night at M. L. "Tigue" Moore Field.  Gametime is 6pm and will be broadcast on ESPN1420 and espn1420.com beginning at 5:30.

A win would make Robichaux the seventeenth active coach to reach the milestone, and the 51st in NCAA history.  He is the winningest coach in both UL and McNeese history, having logged 736 wins at UL and 263 while at McNeese.

Lefty freshman Gunner Leger (1-0, 4.50) is the scheduled starter for the Cajuns.  McNeese will counter with JUCO RHP Ethan Stremmel (0-0, 3.58).

(Thanks to Dan McDonald for the research on the lists of winningest coaches.)
