Louisiana's Ragin' Cajun baseball team sure has a flare for the dramatic. Case in point, Tuesday night's win in Hammond against Southeastern Louisiana.

Leading 4-2 heading after 7 and a half innings, the Cajuns gave up 3 runs in the bottom of the 8th. Trailing for the first time in the contest, Louisiana relied on a timely hit from senior first baseman Chase Compton.

Down to their final out, Compton stepped up to the plate with a runner on, hitting a go-ahead two-run homer, giving Louisiana a 6-5 lead.

The Lions weren't done fighting. SLU got two runners on base in the bottom of the 9th. Cajun ace Ryan Wilson embraced the pressure, forcing the Lions into a double-play, ending the game.

“I don’t know how much more I can say about this team and the way they never give up and just keep fighting the entire game,” associate head coach Anthony Babineaux said. “What a great job by Chase Compton and Ryan Wilson to get the job done tonight. This team is never out of the game and just keeps finding different ways to grind out wins.”

With the victory, Louisiana improves to 40-6, becoming the first team in the Country to reach 40 wins on the season.

Win #40 is one the team may never forget. Check out the reaction of several Cajuns after this one.
