Louisiana's Ragin' Cajun men's basketball team won the EA Sports Maui on the Mainland Classic on Sunday, defeating the Coastal Carolina Chanticleers, 73-69, in the tile game in Conway, South Carolina.

Louisiana led at the half, 31-24, and then hung on for the four-point victory, their second win in as many days in the tournament, after downing Oakland, 84-75, on Saturday.

The Cajuns got out-rebounded, 45-36, but outshot Coastal Carolina from the floor, 51%-36%, including a 46%-29% advantage from beyond the three-point line.

Xavian Rimmer led the way for Louisiana, scoring a career-high 21 points, with Shawn Long adding 18 points, along with seven rebounds, while Elfrid Payton chipped in with 13 points, eight rebounds, and nine assists.

In a losing cause for the Chanticleers, Elijah Wilson had a game-high 22 points.

With the win, the Cajuns improved to 4-2, while Coastal Carolina fell to 2-4.

The Cajuns return to action on Wednesday night, when they host Northwestern St., in non-conference play at the Cajundome.
