KPEL's Derek Albert reports the bomb threat has been cleared at Lafayette High School. Fire and hazmat crews are leaving the scene.

They are in the process of dismissing students and returning them to their normal schedule. No suspect(s) have been identified at this time.

Randy Bernard, Academic Specialist with the Lafayette Parish School System, has released some more information about the bomb threat to KPEL News.

"At approximately 12:00 P.M. today, Lafayette High administrators were made aware of a bomb threat to the school," says Bernard. "Administrators, working closely with Lafayette Police, have evacuated the school to the football stadium. Law enforcement agencies with bomb-sniffing dogs are sweeping the entire campus for any devices. After the police have determined that the buildings are safe to enter, students will return to class for the remainder of the day. Student dismissal will proceed as normal."

There is a reported bomb threat at Lafayette High School, according to our news partners at KATC.

Lafayette firefighters, ambulances, Lafayette Police and Hazmat are on the scene.

The school is on lockdown after a spokesman told KATC someone wrote on a wall that there was a bomb on campus.

The students are in the football stadium.
