Scott Police have identified the man found dead in a pond near Interstate 10 Wednesday.

Police Chief Chad Leger said 36-year-old Larry Carmouche of, Breaux Bridge, was stopped by State Police on I-10 on February 25 for driving erratically.

Suspecting impairment, troopers were in the process of conducting a field sobriety test when Carmouche fled on foot.

Troopers, Scott Police officers, and a Lafayette Parish Sheriff's Office K-9 unit attempted top locate Carmouche to no avail.

On Wednesday, two men fishing located Carmouche's body floating in the pond and alerted police of their discovery.

Investigators believe Carmouche drowned in the pond while attempting to hide from officers.
