Bobbi Kristina Brown to Make Singing Debut on Reality Show
Following in the hallowed footsteps of such second-generation recording artists as Peaches Geldof, Elijah Blue Allman, and James Garfunkel, Bobbi Kristina Brown is set to enter the family business with her professional singing debut on an upcoming episode of 'The Houstons: On Our Own.'
MTV has posted a clip from the show, which sees the young Brown meeting up with Ricky Minor, the producer behind the transcendent performance of 'The Star-Spangled Banner' that Bobbi's mother Whitney Houston delivered during halftime at Super Bowl XXV in January of 1991. Minor, who now serves as the band leader for Jay Leno's 'Tonight Show,' is seen in the clip telling Brown, "I've worked with your mother for all those years, over thirty years, it gives me great insight to not only what great singing is, but the work ethic, because the talent is one thing, but it's really important to find your voice. How do you see yourself? Her influence, her spirit, all of that is already built in you. So it's really taking that and moving that forward."
A heavy responsibility, to be certain, but one that Brown seems willing to shoulder. "At this point, I wasn't sure if I was in the mood for meeting or anything, but I know this is an opportunity that my mother would love for me to take," she tells the cameras at one point. "I'm gonna take it and I'm gonna run with it. ... Of course I'm going to be compared to my mother. Being her daughter is a huge blessing, but also a curse at times."
Having said all that, which song did Bobbi choose to sing? One of her mom's hits: 'I'm Your Baby Tonight.' We can't wait until she gets around to performing her dad Bobby Brown's 1992 classic 'Humpin' Around.' Watch the birth of a legend unfold in the clip below.
