Off the coast of Greenland, some sightseers got to see a sight that not many people get to see:  a calving iceberg.

Not only did a huge chunk of ice break off and avalanche into the ocean, it caused a rather large wake that the boat, had the pilot not been thinking, could have become victim to.  The boat does gets hit by the wake, but the pilot's quick thinking minimized the chance serious consequences.

I would say that experiencing this event would have gotten my adrenaline pumping!!

 

 

Here's another calving, this one near Argentina, in which the 'calved' iceberg piece flips over, 'righting' itself after the calving.

 

 

I guess we'll never have to worry about seeing this happen in Vermilion Bay!!
