Blessing Of The Fleet In Jeopardy

 The Annual Blessing Of The Fleet in Chauvin May not take place this year. It's tentatively scheduled for April 10th. Monsignor Fred Brunet, of St. Joseph Catholic Church says there may not be enough fishermen willing to take part this year. Local fisheries aren't fully recovered fron last year's BP oil spill, and many boats are still being cleaned after taking part in the spill cleanup.

Some participants have also expressed resentment over the event deteriorating  into a "floating Mardi-Gras", with people raising beer cans to the  passing priest and occasional "flashing".
