Allons manger, allons dancer, allons a Cycle Zydeco! Lafayette Parish celebrates Bicycle Month in April, 2013 and Cycle Zydeco, April 4-7, 2013, will be the kickoff event, promoting Acadiana to cycling enthusiasts from around the world. The emphasis of this bike tour is to give the riders the total Cajun and Creole experience with live Louisiana music, local cuisine, swamp tours and Zydeco dance lessons so that they can experience our daily “joie de vivre” as they meander from Lafayette, through St. Martinville, Breaux Bridge, Henderson, Arnaudville, Opelousas, Mamou, and Eunice.

This year, Lafayette will welcome riders come from 47 states and Canada. The four-day, 200-mile bike tour is designed to be ridden at a moderate or leisurely pace in order to absorb the Cajun and Creole cultures and food, enjoy the countryside’s picture postcard views, and have the energy to dance to lively Cajun and Zydeco music at the end of the day.

The Cycle Zydeco bike tour will end on Sunday, April 7, 2013 at FestiVÉLO; a party celebrating Lafayette's Bike Month in April. FestiVÉLO will be held at Parc Sans Souci from 10:30 am until 6:00 pm. Events are tailored for all ages and levels of cycling. FestiVÉLO will offer food and drink, live music, a customized and restored bike show, group bike rides, springs, and cycling skill classes. And if you're headed downtown Sunday, keep in mind that E. Congress Street between Polk Street and Taylor Street, Polk Street between E. Congress Street and E. Vermilion Street, and Taylor Street between E. Congress Street and E. Vermilion Street will be closed from 8 AM until 10 PM for the festival.
