I was fortunate enough to attend a seminar this weekend that introduced me to the inner workings of St Jude Children's Hospital in Memphis, and while there, I decided to visit Beale Street.

Though the busy part of Beale Street in Memphis, Tennessee is not nearly as long as the busy part of Bourbon Street, I found many similarities between the two.

What New Orleans' Bourbon Street is to Jazz, Beale Street is to the Blues, but Memphis takes it one step further with memorials to the great Blues artists.  B.B. King, Rufus Thomas and many others have placards placed in the street facade or on signs along Beale Street.

Of course, B.B. King's Restaurant seems to the be cornerstone for Beale Street, along with Silky O'Sullivan's, which proudly features an Acadiana flag hanging from its ceiling!

Granted, there's a whole lot more to Memphis than just Beale Street, but it should definitely be on your itinerary should you ever visit that city.
