The Seattle Symphony commissions world-class composers to write orchestral world premieres inspired by bands and artists that launched from, or are related to, Seattle. This leads us to Sir Mix-A-Lot... he's from the city and has produced music inspired by his hometown, including his first record, 'Posse on Broadway,' which refers to a street by that name there. In addition to writing a new composition inspired by Sir Mix-A-Lot, composer Gabriel Prokofiev also orchestrated two of the legendary rapper's most famous hits for this year's concert, including "Baby Got Back," which he introduced as part of "Orchestral Movements From the Hood" night. Fan or not, it's doubtful concert-goers expected what they got when Sir Mix-A-Lot invited the audience onstage with him!
