Wes Craven, Iconic Horror Filmmaker, Dead at 76
As with most unfortunate news, this one comes to us abruptly with no warning. The great Wes Craven, the legendary horror filmmaker who brought us films such as A Nightmare on Elm Street and Scream, has died at 76. Craven had been battling brain cancer and passed away in his home in Los Angeles.
Legendary Wrestler and ‘They Live’ Star Roddy Piper Dead at 61
This is a pretty huge blow to fans of wrestling, but also to fans of awesome humans in general. “Rowdy” Roddy Piper, the legendary wrestling star and actor, has passed away at the age of 61. Piper had previously been struggling with cancer, but according to early reports, his death was the result of a cardiac arrest.
Jennifer Lawrence Does Her Delightful Cher Impression for Conan O’Brien
Conan O’Brien is broadcasting his nighty talk show live from Comic-Con 2015 this week, and after hosting the panel for The Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Part 2 yesterday afternoon, he had the stars on his show later in the evening to further discuss the film. But then they got a bit off track when O’Brien broached the subject of Jennifer Lawrence’s singing abilities.
Disney’s Live-Action Tinker Bell Movie Casts Reese Witherspoon as ‘Tink’

Cary Fukunaga’s adaptation of Stephen King’s It is one seriously ambitious project, and given the massive size and the generation-spanning scope of the novel, it’s hardly surprising (and even something of a relief) that he’s splitting the story into two films. Fukunaga has a lot of work ahead of him, but most challenging will be the casting of Pennywise the clown, the terrifying entity made famous by Tim Curry in the ‘90s miniseries adaptation. Rest assured that Fukunaga isn’t taking that casting lightly.

SNL episodes are hard, often frenzied work, so you can imagine the sort of time and dedication and stress that went into the SNL 40 show, which featured new and former cast members along with several guest stars. One of the highlights of the three and a half hour event was the return of “Celebrity Jeopardy!” with Norm MacDonald, Will Ferrell and Darrell Hammond reprising their iconic sketch roles alongside fellow SNL stars, including Kenan Thompson doing a hilarious (and timely) Bill Cosby impression. But according to MacDonald, Thompson wasn’t originally supposed to be in the sketch: Eddie Murphy was.

We won’t know exactly how graphic ‘50 Shades of Grey’ is going to be until we see the film with our own cursed eyeballs, but we now officially know that the film has been given an R-rating by the pearl-clutching members of the MPAA. ‘The Interview’: Full List of Theaters Screening the Controversial Comedy on Christmas Day
Earlier today it was announced that Sony will release ‘The Interview’ in select theaters and on VOD this Christmas Day after all. Following the massive hacker attack on the company and subsequent terrorist threats from the group known as Guardians of Peace, Sony had no choice but to cancel the film’s release after major theater chains decided not to show the film. In a wonderful turn of events, following a petition from Art House Convergence, which was signed by many independent exhibitors, Sony is moving forward with the release. We have the full list of theaters that will screen the film this Thursday.
The New ‘Pee-wee’ Movie Produced by Judd Apatow Will Premiere on Netflix
For years now, Paul Reubens has teased that an all-new ‘Pee-wee’ movie is in the works, but it was only over the course of the last year that the project finally became more of a reality. With Judd Apatow’s involvement and an official script locked in, Reubens revealed that production on the film is set to begin in 2015. But don’t count on seeing Pee-wee back on the big screen—he’s heading to Netflix.
