Kirsten Dunst to Make Directorial Debut With Dakota Fanning in ‘The Bell Jar’
After working with great directors like Sofia Coppola, Lars Von Trier, Cameron Crowe and Sam Raimi, it’s honestly sort of surprising that it’s taken Kirsten Dunst this long to set up her own film project — but it seems like it was well worth the wait, as the actress’ directorial debut will be based on Sylvia Plath’s literary classic The Bell Jar. Could there be anything more perfect?
‘Lights Out’ Trailer: Oh Good, Another Reason to Be Afraid of the Dark
James Wan has firmly established himself as a modern master of horror with films like Saw, Insidious and The Conjuring, and though the filmmaker’s latest project isn’t one he directed himself, he is responsible for bringing it to the big screen. Wan produced Lights Out, and if the newest trailer for the upcoming horror flick is to be believed, you’re in for some serious scares.
Set Sail With the First ‘Moana’ Poster, Disney to Debut Teaser Trailer on Sunday
Somehow — in between working out, reading scripts, and filming Fast 8 and Jumanji — Dwayne Johnson finds time to share updates and sneak peeks from his upcoming films with his sizable fan base. Today’s Rock-sclusive is the first official poster for Disney’s Moana, the animated musical adventure featuring the voices of Johnson (obviously) and newcomer Auli’i Cravalho. And in case you were wondering when we might see the first teaser, Johnson’s got you covered there, too.
New HBO NOW Releases: June 2016
Game of Thrones Season 6 comes to an end in June (so soon!), but luckily HBO NOW has plenty of viewing options to help keep you occupied during your annual mourning period. Next month brings the premiere of HBO’s new weekly series Any Given Wednesday with Bill Simmons, hosted by the renowned sports analyst, author and ESPN vet. Cinephiles, meanwhile, will be thrilled to see the addition of Ridley Scott’s The Martian and (maybe) David Cronenberg’s Maps to the Stars. But more importantly, the epic Problem Child trilogy is coming to HBO NOW in June, giving you a chance to engage in a fierce familial debate over the finer points of Junior’s schemes — surely a more contentious topic than the resurrection of Jon Snow.

Yes, Netflix’s Film Catalog Has Gotten Much Smaller, And It Is Frustrating
With whatever insanity seems to be going on at Warner Bros., today doesn’t seem so good for the film industry. At least we get to see the first teaser for Rogue One: A Star Wars Story tomorrow, but until then, here’s some more disappointing news for you, this time from your ol’ reliable streaming pal Netflix.
‘The Jungle Book’ Debuts New Clips That Will Make You Hungry and Sad
Disney has released two new clips from The Jungle Book — one that will make you laugh as you reach for a snack, and another that will make you feel…some things. Let’s just get the emotional part of this out of the way up front so we can end on a more positive note, okay? Unless you feel particularly emotional about food, and in that case, feel free to reverse your viewing order.
‘Baywatch’ Set Photos Bring David Hasselhoff Back to the Bay
You can’t have a Baywatch movie without David Hasselhoff. Just a few weeks ago, Dwayne Johnson confirmed what we all assumed by announcing that the star of the original series would be joining the upcoming film, and now we have photographic evidence. While we wait to find out if his equally iconic co-star Pamela Anderson will also be making an appearance in the Baywatch movie, enjoy this set of photos featuring the Hoff and his new pals.
Margot Robbie to Play Infamous Figure Skater Tonya Harding in ‘I, Tonya’
It was the cry heard ‘round the world, and while Nancy Kerrigan’s harrowing story has rightfully drawn empathy for decades, the story of her infamous foe has often been reduced to a mess of tabloid drama. But Tonya Harding’s story will now be told with the help of Margot Robbie, who is set to play the world-class figure skater in I, Tonya — and when you think about it, that’s kind of perfect.
‘The Jungle Book’ Stars Pose With Their CG Animal Counterparts in These Great New Photos
Disney’s live-action update of The Jungle Book looks absolutely gorgeous, and if nothing else, the trailers for Jon Favreau’s new adaptation of the beloved classic promises some incredible CGI — perhaps even better than Ang Lee’s Life of Pi. We’ll have to wait until next month to be certain, but until then, Disney has released some pretty cool new photos featuring the voice cast posing alongside their respective CG animal characters.
Ron Howard Reportedly Eyeing Robert Downey Jr.’s ‘Pinocchio’ Movie
Not to be confused with Disney’s ever-growing slate of live-action remakes which includes a Pinocchio project, Warner Bros.’ has had a Pinocchio movie of their own in development for years, with Robert Downey Jr. attached to play the role of puppet creator Gepetto. After repeatedly failing to secure a director, WB’s Pinocchio may have finally found its maker in Ron Howard, who is reportedly coming aboard to direct the long-gestating live-action take on the classic fairy tale.

‘Fifty Shades Darker’ Casts Kim Basinger as Christian Grey’s Former Lover
In Fifty Shades of Grey, Jamie Dornan’s Christian Grey alludes to his former lover / sex buddy Elena Lincoln, who basically serves as his very own Mrs. Robinson — the two had an affair when Christian was just 15 years old, as if his whole situation couldn’t get any more skeevy. Today comes news that Universal has found its Ms. Lincoln in Kim Basinger, a fitting choice for the role of the seductive, experienced and confident character who will throw a wrench in Christian’s relationship with Ana.
Weekend Box Office Report: ‘In the Heart of the Sea’ Flounders in the Wake of ‘Mockingjay’
While many suspected that In the Heart of the Sea would perform well in its opening weekend at the box office, Ron Howard's seafaring epic delivered incredibly underwhelming numbers, while The Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Part 2 continued its reign for the fourth week in a row. That's all going to change next weekend when Star Wars: The Force Awakens arrives and completely demolishes the competition — if you can even call it "competition."
SNL’s ‘Star Wars’ Toy Ad Reminds You Who’s Really Buying All Those Toys
Sure, there are lots of kids and teens buying Star Wars: The Force Awakens toys, but a long, long time ago in a galaxy that is actually this one, Star Wars belonged to another group of nerds — and those nerds are not going to let today’s kids take ownership of their fandom so easily, especially when these kids don’t know that action figures should STAY. IN. THE. BOX.
‘Star Wars: The Force Awakens’ Tickets Go on Sale, Immediately Breaks the Internet
Pre-sale tickets for Star Wars: The Force Awakens were not meant to go on sale until after the trailer officially arrives tonight during halftime on ESPN’s Monday Night Football, but Fandango, MovieTickets.com and a few theater websites made tickets available to purchase early this evening — and their websites are already down, unsurprisingly...

The latest trailer for The Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Part 2 is even better than the first, comprised almost entirely of hero shots and action sequences, set to a climactic drum score. It’s time for Panem to turn their eyes — and weapons — to Snow.
‘Spectre’ Theme Song Announced, Sam Smith Confirmed For James Bond’s Latest
The identity of the performer chosen to sing the new James Bond theme song is almost always as exciting as the buildup to the release of the film itself — even British bookies have placed odds on which pop star would sing the theme for Spectre, with Sam Smith coming in as the heavy favorite. Smith has previously denied his involvement and feigned obliviousness, but it looks like the singer / songwriter has recorded the new Bond theme after all.
