Church Point Man Brandon Scott Lavergne Arrested In Mickey Shunick Case [UPDATE]

Police say Brandon Scott Lavergne, 33, from the Church Point area is being held in the Lafayette Parish jail on one count of aggravated kidnapping and one count of first-degree murder, reports KPEL 96.5. Bond has been set at $250,000 on the kidnapping charge.  No bond is set on murder charge.

Mickey Shunick disappeared in the early morning hours on May 19th.

Then, last month, her bicycle was found near the Whiskey Bay exit on interstate 10. Divers have repeatedly combed the area.

Police reportedly searched the home of Brandon Scott Lavergne earlier today confirmed Lavergne owns a white 2011 Chevrolet Silverado.

KPEL also interviewed Shunick's father Tom, who told them the police had known about Lavergne "for some time."

Lafayette city police have called a press conference for 1pm tomorrow.
