The New Orleans Saints, already staggering from a 1-3 start to the 2014 season, will play the rest of the season with their most high-profile free agent.

Safety Jairus Byrd tore his meniscus yesterday in practice and is being put on season ending injured reserve.  Coach Sean Payton made the announcement today.

Byrd was injured in a non-contact drill while turning to catch a pass. Dr. James Andrews performed the surgery today.  Payton said the injury would require some extra rehab because it was a "bucket handle tear."

Veteran Rafael Bush will replace Byrd in the lineup.
