Animals You Might Not Know Exist

I came across this list of pictures on Imgur, and it’s a collection of animals that really exist, but look fake (does that make sense?).  From the Tanuki (Raccoon Dog) to the Pink Fairy Armadillo, these animals are weird-looking, but real.

Except for this one…. it’s a mythical creature, the Jackalope.

These are real, though…. the Tanuki, native to East Asia, is also known as the Raccoon Dog, for its resemblance.  No direct relation, though.  These animals are nocturnal, and quite skiddish.

The Maned Wolf looks like the offspring of a deer that spent a drunken night at the fox bar:

From noah12345678987654321‘s Imgur page:

The Maned Wolf is the largest canid in South America, resembling a large fox with reddish fur. This mammal is found in open and semi-open habitats, especially grasslands with scattered bushes and trees throughout South America. The maned wolf is the tallest of the wild canids and it’s long legs are most likely an adaptation to the tall grasslands of its native habitat.

The Pink Fairy Armadillo is “cute”, I guess:
